They Want to Crucify - Abdullah Al-Zaher

In September 2015 the death sentence issued against Abdullah AL-Zaher (who was arrested when he was a childaged 15 years), was endorsed by the appeals and high court, and his case file was sent to the ministry of interior for implementation after it was approved on 5thOctober2015. He was then suddenly transferred from the General Directorate prison in Dammam investigation to the new Al-Ha’ir prison in Riyadh, without any explanation, where he was placed in solitary confinement. His sentence endorsement and unexpected transfer raises serious concerns about safety, as his is execution is imminent and could be implemented at any moment. Continue

Girls and boys right at school #Afghanistan

Project type: Emergency and development
Sectors: Emergency, education, environment and natural resources
Background: Cesvi has been working in Afghanistan since 2001, when a Country Office was established in Taluqan, Takhar province, Northern Afghanistan. In April 2002 a Country Coordination Office was opened in Mazar-e-Sharif. In 2006 Cesvi moved its operations in the province of Herat implementing projects to support local civil protection (ANDMA). The intervention aimed at reinforcing the response to frequent natural emergencies which hit different areas of the province at high hydro-geological risk. At the same time, Cesvi supported three villages to reinforce river banks in order to prevent floods. It also undertook punctual actions in favor of vulnerable communities in the urban areas of Herat.

Mohammed Akhlaq in northern India was killed in a mob lynching

Mohammed Akhlaq in northern India was killed in a mob lynching.
- They came from everywhere. Over the walls, through the gate... they just barged in to the house, shouting that we had slaughtered a cow.

Gianluca Costantini: drawing reality #Switzerland

From 13th until 18th of October Spazio 1929
Lugano, Switzerland
Opening 13th of October at 6 pm

Gianluca Costantini called himself an activist artist or to be more precise a reality drawer and visual activist. In our times, when freedom of press and information are in crisis, it’not a comfortable definition. Cartoon and comics in a very short time earned a huge space and success, ma they also carry a big responsibility. With very few lines graphic journalism delivers an unexpected point of view, it cuts the continuous flow of information and it gives us a rest, a moment to reflect and watch the world in an original and different way. This exhibition underlines creativity and productiveness of this activist/artist through a selection of arts taken by his books and pages commenting day by day reality.  www.festivaldirittiumani.ch

Drawing "Internazionale" in #Ferrara | #Italy
